Engg firm to make village carbon neutral

Pune: City-based process and product engineering company Praj Industries has undertaken a project to make Mandede village in Mulshi taluka climate resilient and a model net zero in carbon emissions.
The company will provide its expertise to produce biogas in the village and also enable water conservation and management initiatives. It has partnered with Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics as the monitoring agency.
Gokhale institute will measure the changes in carbon emissions over the years to measure the project’s impact. It has also on-boarded actor Pravin Tarde as a brand ambassador for the project.
The company has been actively working on social impact projects in the village for several years. The latest project is aimed at starting the process of reverse migration with better opportunities in the village, Pramod Chaudhari, founder and executive chairman of the company, said.
