PUNE: The
Dattawadi police
on Wednesday foiled an attempt of dacoity at a bank in
Shiv Darshan area
with the arrest of eight suspects. The police have seized a
country-made pistol
and
sharp weapons
from the suspects.
A police team led by senior inspector
Anil Patil
made the arrests. The police identified the suspects as Saurabh Sanjay Avghade (25) of Sahakarnagar, Naresh Lalaram Parihar (24) of Gultekdi, Raju Vitthal Hosmani (20) of Pavananagar, Sahil Raju Jogdandkar (18) of Upper Indirangar, Bibvewadi, Ajay Shivprasad Pardeshi (24), Nimesh Narayan Navale (24) both of Laxminagar, Pankaj Sunil Barad (20) Bibvewadi and Amol Vilas Kale (26) of Dandekar bridge.
Sub-inspector A G Daphal said that police constable M B Salve had received a tip-off that a gang of about 13 men had gathered in Shiv Darshan area and were planning to commit dacoity at a bank in the same area. “We raided the spot and took eight of them into custody,” Daphal said adding, “Their five more accomplices fled from the spot.”
He said that along with weapons and a firearm, the police also have recovered ropes, chili powder and iron rod from the gang. The suspects were produced before the court and were remanded to police custody for two days.
