PUNE: Eight people were arrested by the Shivajinagar police on Thursday for the murder of Baba Bodke gang member Mohan alias Mauli Ganpat Shinde (25) of Kalewadi. The suspects, who belonged to the same gang, had attacked Shinde with sharp weapons and shot him dead at Shivajinagar on Wednesday night.
Those arrested are Shrinath Pardeshi(26), Amol Pardeshi (22), Amol Bodade (22), Ranjit Pardeshi (32), GaneshPardeshi (23), Amol More (32), Sambhaji Pardeshi (53) and Laukik Pardeshi (26)of Shivajinagar. Shinde was murdered over previous enmity, said additionalcommissioner of police Prabhat Kumar (south region). A magistrate court in Punehas sent them to police custody till March 4.
The Pardeshis suspectedShinde's involvement in an alleged rape case registered with the Bhosari policestation in 2008 and in the murder of Sudhir Rasal in 2006.
Two monthsago, Kumar said, the assailants, armed with sharp weapons had threatened MohanShinde's friend Gaurav Shinde'sfamily members for keeping in touch with Mohan.The assailants had warned Gaurav to distance himself fromShinde.
Later, Shinde met Pardeshi, sought an explanation forthreatening Gaurav and warned him of dire consequences. Pardeshi, who hadinformation about Shinde planning to kill him, instead attacked Shinde withsharp weapons and shot him dead near his uncle's residence in Shivajinagar,Kumar said.
Shinde was injured on his back, head and below the rightear. He took three bullets in his abdomen and the fourth bullet was recoveredfrom the crime scene by the police.
Both Shinde and Pardeshi hadreturned to the city after completing their externment in December 2010. Most ofthe Pardeshis have police records. Shrinath Pardeshi is involved in 10 cases,Ranjit has three cases, Amol has three cases while Ganesh has eight cases lodgedagainst them.
