SATARA: The Satara police and a trekkers group on Thursday traced the body of Sakshi Ravindra Pawar (11) of Pune. Sakshi was swept away by the gushing waters of the Thoseghar waterfall in Satara on Sunday afternoon.
Sakshi's body was stuck in a crevice under the water and it took four hours for the police and trekkers to bring it out.
Police inspector of the Satara taluka police station Shrirang Langhe told TOI that since Sunday afternoon, the police, trekkers and divers from the Mahabaleshwar Adventure Trekkers were conducting searches to locate Sakshi's body.

"A team of professional divers from Mumbai had also attempted to find her body," he said.
He said the teams were finding it difficult to trace the body due to the rains. "On Thursday, around 4 pm, one of the divers managed to find it. He was not able to bring the body out out since it was stuck in a crevice," he said.
Langhe said that after continuous efforts, Sakshi's body was brought out around 8 pm. "We have sent the body for post mortem," he added.
Sakshi, a std V student of Pune's NMV Girls' High School, had gone to Thoseghar waterfall along with 13 members of the family. Sakshi's uncle Arvind Pawar had taken her near the waterfall to take photographs.
At that instant, both lost their balance on the slippery ground and were swept away by the water. Other picnickers grabbed hold of Arvind Pawar and tried to save Sakshi, but the strong water current swept her away.
