PUNE: Additional sessions judge
Sadhana Shinde on Monday granted ad interim anticipatory bail to disc jockey Sayyad Kazim Chini alias Chijmail till September 20 in the Maya lounge bar case.
Sayyad had moved the court for seeking bail fearing arrest through his lawyers Harshad Nimbalkar, Shreyas Kulkarni and Jitendra Mohite. The court granted him bail on furnishing personal bond of Rs 15,000 with one solvent surety of the like amount in the even of his arrest.
He was directed to report at the Lonikand police whenever he was called for questioning. He was warned not to threaten or induce witnesses. He was directed not to leave India without seeking permission of the court. The court had earlier granted ad interim anticipatory bail to Anjali Nirmal, one of the co-owners of Maya lounge bar at Wagholi.
Mayor's election petition hearing on October 4
The hearing in the election petition filed against PUNE mayor Vaishali Bankar will begin before the small causes in court on October 4. Rival candidate Pallavi Surse had contested the civic elections from women's open category from panel no. 44 (A) at Hadapsar on February 16. Bankar had secured 9,798 votes, while Surse had polled 4,333 votes as per the results declared by the PMC the next day. Surse through her lawyers Biju Aloor had then moved the court for setting aside Bankar's election. The PMC, its returning officer and some candidates who have being made respondents in the petitions have filed their written statements opposing the petition.
