Diego to play Gunners for title

Pune: Diego Juniors ‘A’ will take on Gunners FA in the Super-First Division final of the inaugral Aspire Cup football tournament at the Hedgewar ground, Pimpri, on Sunday.
Durga SA will take on City FC Pune for the 2nd-3rd Division title.
Diego fought off Indrayani SC 1-0 with Shubham Mahapadi (24th) beating the off-side trap to score the lone goal. Gunners booked their final spot at the expense of Thundercatz 2-1, thanks to a last-minute goal by Jayant Nimbalkar (60th).
Thundercatz took the lead through Aariv Jodhwani (17th), which was nullified when Gautam Kadam (28th) conceded an own-goal.

23 teams for CMS Champions Cup
Twenty-three teams have entered the CMS Champions Cup 11-a-side state level football tournament, which will be played at Madan Lal Dhingra stadium in Nigdi from May 22 to 27. The event will be played in open and 40-above categories and will be played in knockout format. All games will kickoff in the evening and under floodlights.
The open category winning team will get a trophy and a cheque of Rs.51,000, the runner-up Rs.31,000 and a trophy. The 40+ category (Veterans) winners will get trophy and Rs.21,000, the runner-up will be get Rs.11,000 and a trophy, the organisers said in a press release.
