A 42-year-old criminal on police records was shot dead by unidentified men near a hill at Nimbalkarwadi near Gujarwadi in Katraj ghat section on Friday evening.

PUNE: A 42-year-old criminal on police records was shot dead by unidentified men near a hill at Nimbalkarwadi near Gujarwadi in Katraj ghat section on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Parashuram Pandurang Jadhav alias Parshya.
M B Chavan, senior inspector of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, told TOI that unidentified persons had called Jadhav at Nimbalkarwadi on the pretext of seeing a plot.

Jadhav reached the spot in a car along with his driver Laxman Reddy and a friend around 6pm. "On the pretext of showing him the plot, the suspects shot him dead. He received three bullet injuries on chest and legs," Chavan said.
He said after the incident, Reddy and Jadhav's friend ran away from the spot. They reached Katraj and told Jadhav's family members about the incident. "We have registered a case of murder against unidentified men," Chavan said.
The police reached the spot around 7.30pm after receiving information about the incident from Jadhav's family members. The investigations have revealed that the suspects fled from the spot in a sports utility vehicle.

Jadhav has cases of murder, kidnapping for extortion, dacoity and possessing illegal firearms registered against him. He was currently working as a real estate agent, the police said.
Jadhav was earlier associated with gangster Baba Bodke.
A sharpshooter, he was a suspect in the murder of Sudhir Rasal, a criminal on police record, in 2007. Rasal was a member of the gang which was opposed to Bodke's gang. Jadhav was also recently arrested for kidnapping of a city-based builder.
He was also involved in the murder of one Sandip Chandgadkar, suspecting him to be an informer of the rival gang, in Kolhapur in July 2011. After the murder, Jadhav and his accomplices had dumped Chandgadkar's body in a river.
In September 2011, the Khadak police had arrested Jadhav and had seized two pistols and five cartridges.
