AURANGABAD: A man with at least 14 cases of theft, dacoity, burglary and rape registered against him died after he fell from a height while climbing a pipe to gain entry into a flat in a building on Monday night.
Inspector Sandipan Gavali of Osmanpura police station said that two residents of Manthan apartment called the police control room, saying that a suspected thief was trying to gain entry into a flat at 11 pm on Monday.
While nobody saw him fall, the incident probably happened when the man was climbing up a pipe to enter one of the flats in the building.
"Our team patrolling the area rushed to the spot to find a seriously injured man lying on the ground. Our men took him to the government medical college and hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival," he said. The suspect was later identified as Sikandar Khan Wasim Khan (29) of Sadatnagar.
