PUNE: More than a dozen corporate teams from the city will participate in a unique competition that will see business projects being presented in the form of a drama. The competition will see how project management skills are applied in a play.
The event - World of Project Management with Drama - will take place at the city's Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium on 9 and 10 January and will demonstrate the close link between the nuances of life as they apply to project management, convener Dhananjay Gokhale told ToI.

Gokhale said there are many parallels between a business project and a play as both have a theme, a script, a strategy, direction and execution. "A project is born; it develops, settles, achieves the intended results and reaches its logical end. It is however considered a serious, dry, mundane process devoid of any excitement. In reality, however, a project has all the characteristics of a play. It has the flavours of curiosity, anxiety, jealousy, humanity or accomplishment," Gokhale said, adding that the theme of the event is expected to challenge the creativity of business managers. He said the city's corporate sector has been very keen about the concept and has responded with wide participation. Firms such as Sungard, Kirloskar Brothers, BMC Software, Fujitsu Consulting, NICMAR have confirmed their entries, Gokhale said.
The event will take place between 4.30 pm and11 pm and the participating teams will be assessed on parameters such as best writing, presentation, innovative theme, acting, direction and sound and light, he said. Renowned Marathi writer Achyut Godbole will be the chief guest at the concluding session of the event and will give the prizes away to winners, Gokhale said.
