: The civic body will appoint a private
contractor
to supply equipment for the
demolition
of
illegal constructions
in municipal limits over the next 12 months.
The contract is for Rs1.7 lakh. Those interested in submitting bids must visit the site and prepare the tender documents, city engineer Rajan Patil said.
The contractor will be required to make the necessary arrangements for traffic regulation — installing and maintaining diversions — during the demolition process. “All works would have to be in compliance with the civic rules, regulations, and bylaws,” the official said.
As a part of the contract, the agency must supply vehicle tracking systems, apparatus to protect underground telephone cables, water supply lines, transmission towers, and electrical cables. Civic officials said all the agencies appointed for different facets of the work must coordinate for smooth execution.
