CM International School students take part in ‘Global Climate Strike’

PUNE: The students of CM International School joined the 'Global Climate Strike', recently observed by the youth in more than 100 countries.
The movement was led by Greta Thunberg, a student from Sweden, who drew the attention to climate change. The students penned down their views on climate change. In their letters, they highlighted the human activities including the excessive use of vehicles and the growth of industries leading to carbon emission, extinction of forests and thus, contributing towards drastic change in the climatic conditions.
The students gave the message, “Climate change is a global problem. We cannot control the natural forces but human beings must ensure they control the activities that lead to negative impact on weather in order to maintain harmony on the earth.”
Sonali Joshi of Std VI said, “You cannot solve the global climate change by hitting the delete button.”
City Pride bags top award
City Pride School received the ‘best performing school trophy’ for the third time for winning the highest number of medals at the Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition conducted by The Mumbai Science Teachers Association recently.
The participants had to tackle four tests at different intervals throughout the year and face a panel of judges during the stages. In the first level, 80 students from Std VI and 29 students from Std IX of City Pride gave the written exam. Out of these, four students from Std VI and two from Std IX went up to the last stage — the project and viva round. Arnav Kumbhar of Std IX bagged the gold medal for his project ‘Ambadi- The Indian Superfood’. Eshita Gurram of Std IX, Niti Deokar, Mahi Karnawat, Ankur Parchure and Rakshita Itagi of Std VI won silver.
The achievers received the awards from scientist Narendra Deshmukh, the scientist officer of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education and Santosh Takale, the senior scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai.
Vijay Vallabh picked for Art Olympiad
Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh School recently bagged 60 entries for exhibition at the Rotary Art Olympiad 2019 which was organized by the Rotary Club of Pune, Sinhgad Road for the students from various cities in the state. Sachin Kawale, the art teacher of Vijay Vallabh School, was awarded a memento for being an ‘excellent guide and mentor’ by the Rotary Club.
Around 31,000 students participated out of which 800 artworks were selected. These will be exhibited in five countries.
The selected entries were exhibited at Bhimsen Joshi gallery in Sahakarnagar.
