PUNE: The Pune district legal services authority (PDLSA) in association with A K Khan New Law Academy, Pune organised a seminar on Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999.
Principal of NLA and dean faculty of law, University of Pune Rasheed Shaikh welcome and felicitated the guests attending the seminar organised to create awareness among the students.
In his welcome address, Shaikh apprised the students of the anti ragging committee and anti ragging squad of the academy and said that for the last so many years no incident of ragging has taken place in the 27 institutes running at Azam campus in Pune Cantonment.
R K Malabade, secretary of PDLSA said that as ragging affects the students physically and mentally and sometimes even spoils their career, it is our responsibility to create awareness among students about ragging.
Umeschandra More, civil judge junior division and judicial magistrate first class who was presiding over the function gave details of ragging incidents to students and appealed to them to exercise caution while obtaining education as law students.
Lawyer S D Ratnaparkhi enlightened the students about the various provisions of Mahararashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999.
Payal Thaorey introduced the guest while the vote of thanks was delivered by Shweta Gupta.
