PUNE: A group of youths working in various fields have come together to form the Nigdi Pradhikaran Citizens Forum (NPCF).
The non-political forum will work for solving problems faced by citizens. However, the problem solving method will be different. Instead of holding demonstrations or agitations, the forum will use social media and other digital technologies to take up issues with the concerned municipal or other government departments.
Convenor of the forum, Amol Deshpande said the forum will work on creating public awareness about issues concerning citizens, the citizens rights, and act as coordinators between citizens and municipal or government offices. The forum will act as a platform for citizens to give their complaints or suggestions to the concerned government and municipal departments. The forum will also ensure public participation in all citizens initiatives taken up by the Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporation.
Pimpri Chinchwad municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi will formally launch the forum on May 1 at a function to be held at the Jnana Prabodhini school in Pradhikaran at 5 pm. Several members of citizens groups including Jugal Rathi, Dominic Lobo, Ramesh Sardesai, Manav Kamble, public relations officer of PMPML Deepaksingh Pardeshi, and other civic officials will be present for the function.
