The retired professional decided to take up the matter with the authorities through the TOI Citizen Reporter app. The result: the pipes were removed from the spot within a few hours.
The pipes had been lying at the same spot for nearly six weeks. Pedestrians were finding it extremely difficult to walk along the road because of the huge size of the pipes.
A portion of the pipes was also blocking a part of the carriageway, worsening the situation on the already congested narrow road.

, a frequent user of the TOI Citizen Reporter app, clicked a photograph of the spot and uploaded it. It was published in TOI and corrective action was taken by the authorities within a few hours.
A major portion of the footpath and the road became free was the pipes were removed.
Expressing satisfaction, Menon said, "I am happy with the way the civic authorities responded to the issue raised through the TOI Citizen Reporter app. It is a clear indication that they are following up people concerns raised through the newspaper. The pipes, lying on the road approaching from the
Pashan Circle
side, were a major hindrance."
He added, "The pipes were making the carriageway available for the traffic further narrow, especially in morning and evening hours. The space has been finally cleared and I wish to express my gratitude to TOI for its support to raise the issue with the authorities concerned."
Menon also lauded the civic authorities for their prompt response to the citizens' concern.
