PUNE: In a freak mishap, a seven year-old boy, Apurva Gandhi, was killed minutes after alighting from his school bus on Tuesday.

PUNE: In a freak mishap, a seven year-old boy, Apurva Gandhi, was killed minutes after alighting from his school bus on Tuesday.
Apurva, a first standard student of the SM Choksey high school, Pune camp, was returning home after his exam around 3 pm at Padmavati Nagar housing colony, Dhankwadi, when the accident occurred.
No sooner had Apurva got down from a Swaraj Mazda mini-bus (MH 12 AG 5932) than he realised that he had forgotten something inside the bus.

Immediately, he started running after the bus, shouting.
On hearing his shouts, the driver braked suddenly. Apurva''s head banged against the back of the bus and he was thrown violently into a nearby divider, resulting in a serious, open injury on his neck.
Though he was rushed to a private hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
"The impact of Apurva hitting the bus was such that the child was thrown onto a divider nearby, resulting in a deep gash in his neck," his uncle, Bharat Gandhi, said.
The Sahakarnagar police have arrested the bus driver, Suhas Ingale (39) of Kondwa.
Bharat Gandhi said their''s was a joint family and Apurva had an elder brother, Neil, who studies in the fourth standard in the same school.
