PUNE: The thefts of the jammers, which are being fixed to illegally parked four and two-wheelers by the city traffic police, continue, as one more jammer was stolen by a car owner, who had parked his vehicle in the designated no parking zone located in front of Wadia College, on Bund Garden road on Friday afternoon.

A traffic police constable Sachin Pathak of Samarth traffic division has lodged a complaint with the Koregaon Park police station after he realized that the driver had fled away with the jammer worth Rs 3000.

According to police, the constable spotted the car, parked in the no parking zone of the road, and fixed a jammer to it around 2 pm. After fixing a jammer to its front wheel, the constable wrote his cell phone number on the car. However, despite waiting for long, the driver or owner of the car did not contact him and Pathak went to have a look at the car. He found that the car and the jammer were missing from the spot.

In last 12 months, over 15 jammers have been reported stolen from the areas of Hadapsar, Deccan, Hinjewadi, Camp and others. Theft cases were lodged by the traffic police and vehicle drivers or owners were arrested by the police for stealing jammers. Traffic police personnel take photographs of the vehicles after fixing jammers to the wheels and thus are able to find the owner.
