SATARA: Pravin Dere (27), a constable with the Border Security Force (BSF), who hailed from Kavthe village in Satara district died in a landmine blast while out on a night patrol at Kokrajhar district in Assam.
According to his relatives, Dere was posted at Kokrajhar. He was patrolling on Tuesday night when a landmine planted by NDFB militants exploded, destroying the jeep carrying Dere and eight BSF personnel.

Dere had joined the BSF in 2005, after completing his graduation from Kisan Vir college in Wai.
He had done his schooling from a zilla parishad high school. Dere lost his father when he was just two years old and his mother brought him up single-handedly.
Last year, he married Ashwini Kadam and the couple was recently blessed with a girl, who Dere was yet to see.
He was expected to visit his village soon on a two-month leave.
Incidentally, Kavthe village boasts of many martyrs, the recent being Ambadas Pawar who was killed during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
