MUMBAI/PUNE: A month after the German Bakery bomb blast that killed 17, the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) is nearing detection in the case. Highly placed sources said the blast case will be solved within three to four days.
A senior official in the security establishment said that the investigators are close to solving the case. However, he was tightlipped about the identity of the group or the suspects.
Last week, Pune police commissioner Satya Pal Singh had claimed that the perpetrators of the blast had been identified but ATS chief Krish Pal Raghuvanshi was non-committal on this. Sources said the latest development in the case is based on human intelligence.
“Our investigation is transparent. You will see the breakthrough soon. As of now we cannot divulge anything,” Raghuvanshi said.
After having examined over 50 suspects associated with banned outfits like SIMI, Indian Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, the police is now turning its investigation towards hardline right-wing organisations. A senior ATS official in Pune said they were searching a few members of the Sanatan Sanstha and the Abhinav Bharat group besides those involved in Pune’s terror training camp held in 2003.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sent a report in connection with the blast to the Pune police, said sources. Singh, who is the official spokesman for the blast probe, was not available for a comment on the report as he was a on visit to Mumbai.
