A 12-year-old boy was electrocuted on Saturday morning in Warje when he tried to park his bicycle against an electricity pole.

PUNE: A 12-year-old boy was electrocuted on Saturday morning in Warje when he tried to park his bicycle against an electricity pole.
Senior inspector Rekha Salunkhe of the Warje police said the boy, Prithviraj Vishal Chavan, had gone out on Saturday morning. After pedalling for some time, he decided to park his bicycle by resting it against a lamp post.
"As soon as his bike touched the pole, he was electrocuted.

His legs were burned," she said. An case of accidental death had been registered.
Salunkhe said the lamp post belonged to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Police suspect that something might have gone wrong during maintenance work. It has been raining continuously for the past few days and electricity might have percolated into the metal pole from the open or cut cable inside it.
Prithviraj was a Standard VI student of an English school in Warje. His mother is a homemaker, while his father is a farmer and a police patil.
Salunkhe said, "Legal action will be taken against the authorities concerned after recording their statements."
