PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Monday arrested Anil Jadhav (25), a resident of Alandi Road in Bhosari, who had been on the run after assaulting two witnesses in a murder case.
Jyotam Phartale and Avinash Kamble were assaulted on Sunday night in Shastri chowk. The two sustained severe injuries in the attack. They are key witnesses in the murder case of Ganesh Waghmare who was hacked to death at Shastri chowk in March 2015.

The police have arrested Waghmare’s assailants and booked them under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Control Act.
“The suspect Jadhav and his five accomplices were putting pressure Phartale and Kamble to speak the truth before the court so that all suspects in the murder case would be convicted by the court,” said inspector Uttam Tangde.
On Sunday night, Jadhav and his accomplices had assaulted Phartale and Kamble with sharp weapons. “A case of attempt to murder has been registered against them,” Tangde added.
He said that the suspect Jadhav was taken into custody after the police received a tip off about his location. He has been handed over to the Bhosari police. “We have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects,” Tangde said.
