PUNE: Narendra Kabra, general manager (IT) of Bank of Maharashtra and Sudhakar Dhodapkar, with Suresh Nangare from Retirees of Bank of Maharashtra presented two cheques worth Rs 21 lakh to Naam Foundation at Bank of Maharashtra’s head office on August 26. General managers of the Bank, Rajkiran Bhoir, M C Kulkarni, and Manoj Biswal were present on the occasion.
The foundation started by Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure works towards the betterment of farmers in the drought-prone areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha in the Maharashtra.
The first cheque of Rs 11 lakh was a result of the collective personal contribution by employees and the ex-employees of the bank. The second cheque worth Rs 10 lakhs was presented by the bank to extend their support to the noble cause that Naam foundation is working towards.
Sushil Muhnot, chairman and managing director and R K Gupta, executive director of Bank of Maharashtra decided to match the amount that the bank’s staff wanted to contribute for the collective-noble efforts of the staff.
Makarand Anaspure, co-founder of NAAM foundation expressed his gratitude and mentioned that each of their efforts would help in bringing smile drought victims. He further requested the bank to take initiative to hold Weekly Bazar where farmers can sell their produce to consumers.
