Atitkar, Shrikhande named selectors

Pune: Former Maharashtra middle-order batsman Sangram Atitkar has been named as Maharashtra Ranji Trophy selector for the 2023-24 season.The MCA announced coaches, selectors and various committee members. All five selectors in the Ranji and Under-25 panel are new faces. Former Services player Shrikant Kate, Rohit Jadhav, Kiran Adhav, Salil Agharkar (Ranji), Ameya Shrikhande, Mahendra More, Sachin Aradhye, Samuel Clifton and Anant Neralkar (U-25) are the other new faces as men’s selectors. The MCA said in a press release that it had followed the constitutional provisions while naming the selectors.Santosh Jedhe and Srikant Kalyani have been retained as Ranji and U-25 coaches, respectively. Atitkar, 35, played 44 Ranji games from 2009 to 2015. Shrikhande, chairman of the U-25 selectors, played 10 Ranji games from 2007 to 2010.Other notable appointments are: former left-arm spinner Mandar Dalvi (head coach of women’s team), batting stalwart Milind Gunjal (U-19 selection chairman), former pacer Aditya Dole (U-14 selection chairman), Ranji finalist Anupam Sanklecha (U-19 bowling coach) and Ajay Chavan (U-19 head coach).Seven-member (5 men, 2 women) talent hunt committees is the new addition of the new dispensation under president Rohit Pawar (MLA from NCP). tnn
