Prévert's collages have the same themes and concerns as in his writings using which he invites the public, through incongruous image associations and misappropriations, to look at the world as it really is, as he denounces with great humour and vehemence the power of politics and of the Church, a society with its injustices, the condition of women, the oppressed, animals.

To Prévert, his different means of expression - cinema, literature and collages- all come from the same approach: the art of assembling and editing. Apart from his poetry and collages, Prévert is known for having contributed to some of the gems of world cinema. He wrote a number of screenplays; among them were the scripts for Jean Renoir's Le Crime de Monsieur Lange (1936) as well as Marcel Carné's Quai des brumes (Port of Shadows, 1938) and Children of Paradise (Les Enfants du Paradis, 1945). The dual-award-winning film and Oscar-nominated (for original screenplay) Children of Paradise will be screened in its two parts at Lost the Plot, Aundh.
