’s show for a good 30 minutes, much to the embarrassment of the organisers. A supposed voltage drop led to the power generator causing the snag during the performance of Malhar Waari. Meanwhile, actor Makarand Anaspure, emcee for the night, kept the audience entertained with his trademark tongue-in-cheek banter, till the show finally resumed at 8.15 pm. Don’t give the incident surplus publicity: Umakant Dangat
The three-day festival was marred by several technical glitches. Dr Umakant Dangat, Divisional Commissioner of Aurangabad and president of the festival committee, explains that the glitch took place despite sincere efforts by the organisers. “When the sound system gave way briefly, the issue was immediately resolved so that the show could resume. The festival was being conducted after four years. Professional sound equipment providers were called in and sincere efforts were put in by the organisers to avert such situations.” Dangat stated that an enquiry would be made into the technical snag that took place on the second as well as third day of the festival. “The incident teaches one a lesson to be better prepared next year, but a sincere request would be to not give it negative publicity. In the long run, the city’s tourism will have to bear the brunt of it,” Dangat added.
