PUNE: The Bund Garden police recently arrested a gang of seven people for stealing valuables from bus passengers. The police have recovered 290 grams of gold and two motorcycles, totally worth Rs 8.50 lakh.
The police have also arrested a cold drink vendor near Pune station for tipping off the members of the gang about the crowd at the bus stand. The suspects are Rina Kale (19), Dhanu Kasbe (25), Asha Kale (25), Varsha Chetan Sharma (20), Chetan Sharma (25) and Tanaji Kale from Latur, and Bhagyarshri Kasbe (25) from Mumbai.

A Bund Garden police team led by senior inspector U N Sonawane made the arrests. Sonawane said there was a spike of late, in cases of passengers' valuables being stolen. "We laid a trap and nabbed the gang. Ten theft cases in our jurisdiction have been solved," Sonawane said.
Sonawane said that the Havale, the cold drink vendor used to inform the gang about the crowd at the bus stand near the Pune railway station.
