4 held in Sayeed murder case

PUNE: Acting on a tip-off, the Yerwadapolice on Friday evening arrested four persons at Begnagar, Kharadi, for theiralleged involvement in a daylight murder at a petrol pump in Yerwada onSeptember 30.The four have been identified as Afzal Sheikh, ImranSheikh, Fakruddin alias Pappu Sheikh and Indrajit Dhariwal, all residents ofNagpur Chawl, Yerwada. They have confessed to the crime, the Yerwada policesaid.Muktar Sayeed of Nagpur Chawl, Yerwada, a historysheeter, hadbeen murdered by four persons around 2.30 pm, using swords and other sharpweapons. Sayeed, who sustained injuries on the head, was declareddead on arrival at the Sassoon hospital, the police said.EarlierSayeed had allegedly murdered one Nawab Curiel of Yerwada and the attack onSayeed was the fallout of Curiel''s murder, the policesaid.Meanwhile, the rickshaw used by Sayeed''s murderers for fleeingthe scene is yet to be traced.
