4 arrested for series of thefts in Hadapsar

Pune: The crime branch on Saturday announced the arrest of four youths and recovered 23 phones, three laptops, car accessories, electronic goods, a car and a motorbike from them.
The arrested include Hrishikesh alias Chintya Mahendra Kamble (23), Nitin Arjun Sutar (19), Gaurav Pradeep Pawar (25) and Sanket Umesh Shitole (23), all from Phursungi and Bhekrainagar in Hadapsar.

The Hadapsar police on July 20 had registered a complaint against unidentified people saying that they had stolen phones and valuables worth Rs 70,000 by breaking into Atif Shaikh's mobile shop near Vaibhav talkies in Hadapsar.
Assistant inspector Yuvraj Nandre and police naik Bharat Ransingh from the crime branch, who were conducting parallel investigations in Shaikh's case, had received a tip off that Kamble and Pawar had stored the stolen loot in a building at Bhekrainagar.
The suspects were arrested on Friday evening and a police team led by the crime branch raided the flat and recovered booty of worth over Rs 5.25 lakh. DCP (crime) P R Patil said during interrogation the suspects had confessed of committing five burglaries including four in Hadapsar, one in Loni Kalbhor and a vehicle theft in Lullanagar chowk area, since January this year. He said Sutar also confessed his involvement in robbing two tempo drivers of cash and valuables at Market Yard on April 1 and April 6 respectively.

The Pune police crime branch on Saturday announced the arrest of the youths including two criminals on record and recovered 23 phones, three laptops, accessories of car and electronic goods, a car and a motorbike from them.
The arrested include Hrishikesh alias Chintya Mahendra Kamble (23), Nitin Arjun Sutar (19), Gaurav Pradeep Pawar (25) and Sanket Umesh Shitole (23) all from Phursungi and Bhekrainagar in Hadapsar.
Sutar is involved in 16 cases while Pawar is involved in two cases. Kamble and Shitole have been arrested for the first time.

Acting on the information, a police team led by assistant inspector Mahadeo Waghmode under assistant commisisoner of police Arun Walture and senior inspector M M Mujawar of crime branch (Unit V) raided the flat and recovered the loot totally worth over Rs 5.25 lakhs after arresting the suspects on Friday evening.

According to Patil, the suspects are known to each other, but their passion for stealing smart phones and laptops because it fetched good price in the market made them join hands for committing series of burglaries in night time. The suspects all school drop outs have used a crow bar for breaking locks of flats and shutter in all the cases. The income generated by selling the loot was spend on fun and merry making, he added.
