Police sub-inspector of the Warje Malwadi police station M G Naik told TOI that the victim and the suspect were known to each other. In the month of March, the suspect entered her house on the pretext of discussing something with her. “The suspect then threatened the victim with a sharp knife and closed the door of her flat from inside. The suspect also threatened to kill the victim’s husband and allegedly raped her,” Naik said.
Naik said that the suspect then threatened to kill victim if she revealed the incident to any other person. “However, the victim informed her husband and decided to lodge the complaint with the police,” Naik said.
Naik added that when the suspect came to know that the victim was about to approach the police, he again contacted her and threatened to kill her son. “Despite the threats, the victim lodged the complaint against Patil,” Naik said.
Naik added that the suspect Patil has been charged under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
