PUNE: A 19-year-old truck cleaner was killed after the truck he was travelling in crashed into the road divider at Amedbkar Chowk in Yerawada in the early hours of Monday.
The Yerawada police have identified the deceased as Samadhan Koli of Solapur. The driver, Mansinh Chavan (22), has been booked for negligent driving and driving without a licence.
According to police, Chavan was driving towards Ahmednagar Road early on Monday, when he lost control of the vehicle near Ambedkar Chowk. The truck crashed into the road divider and also hit a car driving in front of it. Due to the impact of the crash, the cleaner Koli fell from the truck, hit his head on the divider and was killed on the spot, police said.
In a separate incident, a 55-year-old woman died after she was knocked over by a speeding tempo at Morwadi Chowk in Pimpri on Tuesday morning. The Pimpri police have identified the deceased as Asaryabai Chavan of Ahmednagar district.
The tempo also hit a scooter rider Sunita Mehra (38) at the same spot. Mehra sustained minor injuries, police said.
