13-year-old among 4 killed in accidents

PUNE: Four persons, including a 13-year-old school girl, were killed in separate accidents in and around the city on Monday.
Alisha Khan (13) from Handewadi was killed after she was run over by a tanker near Pisoli on Monday. The accident took place when the victim and her friend were returning home after school. The driver left the tanker on the spot and fled.
Akhtar Peerzade, an eyewitness to the accident told TOI that he was waiting for a friend near Pisoli when the accident occurred. "A tanker coming from Pisoli mowed down two school girls. Alisha had sustained severe injuries, while her friend got injuries on her legs," he said. I rushed Alisha to a private hospital in Wanowrie, while locals rushed Alisha's friend to another private hospital, he added.
The Kondhwa police said Alisha succumbed to injuries during treatment. She is survived by her parents and younger brother, police said.
In another accident on Monday evening, a 23-year-old man from Ganj Peth was killed near Dehu Road while three persons, including two girls, sustained injuries. The deceased was identified as Kaushal alias Vinayak Bhoi, a resident of Ganj Peth. The two girls Vaishnavi Jadhav (4), Vaishali Jadhav (6) and their father Kundan Jadhav (27) sustained injuries in the accident.
Police said the accident took place when Bhoi and Jadhav were returning to the city on a motorcycle after visiting a temple at Shirgaon. A speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided head-on against their motorcycle. The impact was such that all of them fell on the road and sustained injuries. The locals rushed them to a nearby hospital, where Bhoi succumbed to the injuries, police said.
In a hit-and-run accident a 22-year-old motorcycle rider was killed, while his friend sustained severe injuries after their bike was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at Warje. The accident took place on Monday night.
The Warje Malwadi police identified the deceased as Kunal Ashok Mane (22) and his friend as Nitin Shedge (22) from Janata Vasahat. Police said on Monday night, Mane and Shedge were on their way to Katraj from Chandni Chowk. When they came at Warje, a speeding vehicle hit their motorcycle. The impact was such that Mane, who was riding pillion, was killed on the spot, while Shedge sustained severe injuries, police said.
Late on Monday night, Dnyaneshwar Sudhakar Jadhav (22) of Rahatani was killed after his motorcycle skidded in Pimple Saudagar. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, the Sangvi police said.
