NEW DELHI: At least one person died and three others injured after a speeding Mercedes rammed into a motorcycle and fell off a bridge in the Sinhgad Road area of Pune early Saturday, police said. The incident took place around 4.30am on Wadgaon bridge.
“The motorcyclist, who was critically injured, died in hospital. The pillion rider and the car occupants were also hurt,” said Sambhaji Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3).
According to police, the Mercedes crashed into the two-wheeler before plunging from the bridge onto the service road below.
The car driver has been arrested and booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
