PUDUCHERRY: S Jayaragini, a student of Sri Manakula Vinayagar engineering college,
Puducherry, won the first prize in Tamil Nadu-Puducherry Thirukkural elocution competition conducted by Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam. The comnpetition was conduccted by the literary wing of Shriram Group, a non-banking financial company.
M Nandhini of Government arts and science college, Nandanam, Chennai and R Bharathi Priya of Sri Sakthi Kailash Women's College, Amma Pettai, Salem, bagged the second and third prizes respectively in the college-level contest.
P Gopika of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj HSS, Virudhunagar, bagged the first prize in the junior level. S Gayathri of Sakthi Vinayagar Hindu Vidhyalaya CBSE School, Tuticorin and K Bharath Ganesh of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam, Chennai came second and third respectively.
In the senior-level, T Nitheeshwari of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj HSS, Virudhunagar finished first followed by V Guna Sekhar of Government HSS, Ulagam, Krishnagiri and R Navin of Government HSS, Sirumugai in the second and third positions In the super-senior-level, P A Pragathi of Jaysi HSS, Coimbatore, S Sneha of Veludaiyar HSS, Meiporul Nagar, Thiruvarur and P Yuvaraj of Guhai HSS, Salem finished in the top three positions.
Winners were presented cash awards of 10,000, 7,500 and 5,000 respectively, with trophies and certificates.
As many as 1,918 students from schools and colleges across
Tamil Nadu and Puducherry participated in the contest.
