Pregnant woman stages protest

VELLORE: Disappointed over alleged police inaction against the man who impregnated her and later refused to marry, a 21-year-old woman staged a sit-in in front of the man’s house near Ambur on Saturday.
Police said the woman, a daily wager, stays with her elder sister’s family. Janakiraman, 26, a car driver, was in a relationship with her. The woman who found she was pregnant six months ago asked Janakiraman to marry her.Initially, he kept on postponing the marriage but later he refused to marry. The woman with help from a few local women lodged a police complaint on March 3. As there was no action against the man, she staged a sit-in in front of Janakiraman’s house on Saturday. On information, police came to the spot and pacified the woman. Police have launched a search for Janakiraman who is at large.tnn
