Collectorate flyover on Saturday morning apparently upset over domestic problems. Earlier in the day, he also tried to push his wife in front of a moving train at Katpadi Junction but she was rescued by locals.
Police said S Magesh of Kaniyambadi had married Bhuvaneshwari, 21, a government employee, on July 11. Magesh was upset over frequent quarrels with his wife and the sudden death of his father, police said. Within a week of their marriage, Bhuvaneshwari came to know that Magesh was in a relationship with another woman, police said, adding that they had frequent fights over the issue. Meanwhile, Magesh’s father also passed away, leaving him extremely upset. Under the pretext of taking her to his friend’s house at Katpadi, Magesh took her near Katpadi Junction and tried to push her in front of a moving train. Timely intervention by locals saved her life.
Around 10:30am Magesh rode his two-wheeler towards the Bangalore-Chennai national highway and stopped atop the flyover close to the Vellore collectorate.
He jumped off the bridge to end his life. Inspector of Sathuvacahari police station C Alagu Rani said Magesh’s wife said her husband was disturbed off late due to various domestic problems. The body was sent to Vellore Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. Further investigations are on.
