His rally used to witness a large number of footfall in Bihar.
The premium investigation agency – National Investigation Agency (NIA) cracked the alleged Darbhanga module of IM. The founding member of IM Yasin Bhatkal was arrested by the NIA from Raxaul and was taken to the Dar-ul-Qitab-Sunna library near Al-Hira Public School in Karamganj area in Darbhanga. Bhatkal used to frequently visit the library during his stay in Darbhanga mostly during 2010-11.
An officer, of the NIA wishing anonymity said, “Bhatkal was also taken around many other places as part of efforts to understand the network he built there. During the visit, he confessed that other members of the IM like Kafeel Akhtar alias Chota Kafeel and Tahseen alias Monu used to visit the library. They used to provoke religious feelings and provoked for anti-national activities and indoctrinated many youths in the IM module citing the incidents of various atrocities on the Muslims like Babri Masjid demolition, Gujarat riots etc. The library was stuffed with books and hardcopies of Zakir’s speeches.”
He further added, “The local youths after their induction to Zakir, used to be introduced to the IM module. All the accused who were members of the IM were gradually arrested after the blast during Hunkar Rally of then Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Gandhi Maidan. We found photographs, speeches, soft copies of books by Zakir from the possession of the accused. Apart from the library in Darbhanga, they had huge collection of Zakir in their laptops and mobile phones.
