Youth’s body found in Muzaffarpur, police begin probe
Patna: Body of a 25-year-old youth was recovered from a bamboo grove around 300 metres from his house in Silauth Vasudev village under Maniyari police station area in Muzaffarpur on Sunday.
Police seized the deceased’s mobile phone and shirt from the spot and started a probe.
The deceased was identified as Gulshan Kumar, son of Ramashankar Mishra. According to police, some children had gone to the orchard Sunday morning to collect dry leaves when they spotted Gulshan lying unconscious in the bamboo grove. Frightened, they raised an alarm, prompting family members working in nearby fields to rush to the spot.
Gulshan’s father said his son worked at a private company in Bengaluru and had returned home around a month ago. “On Sunday around 8am, he had tea and left home for a walk. He was talking to someone on his mobile. We got information about his death two and a half hours later,” he said.
Family members said Gulshan had left home wearing a shirt and trouser, but his shirt was found removed from his body. His mobile phone was lying beside him. Villagers and relatives suspect foul play.
After receiving information, Maniyari police reached the spot and took custody of the body. A Forensic Science Laboratory team was also called to collect evidence.
SDPO West-II Animesh Chandra Gyani said police were investigating the case from all angles. “The case is suspicious, so we are investigating deeply from both murder and suicide angles. Call details are also being examined. Further action will be taken based on the written complaint filed by the family,” he said.
The body was handed over to the family after the postmortem at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital.
