Youth held for raping minor girl in Muzaffarpur
Patna: A 22-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. The accused reportedly lured the child to a secluded area near a brick kiln and sexually assaulted her. The girl, who is in critical condition, has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The victim’s mother said, “There is an old brick kiln a short distance from our house where village children often play. Our neighbour, Sujit Kumar alias Shukul, lured my daughter and took her near the kiln, and committed the heinous act. When she became unconscious, he left her there and came to my house, claiming she had fallen into a pit and was injured.”
Family members rushed to the spot and found the girl lying unconscious and covered in blood. They alerted Dial 112, after which locals handed over the accused to the police. With police assistance, the child was taken to the primary health centre and later referred to a higher medical facility.
The treating doctor said, “The child’s condition is serious. There was excessive bleeding. We are trying to stabilize her. It will take some time. Efforts are underway to ensure her recovery. Treatment is going on under doctors’ supervision.”
DSP East-2, Manoj Kumar Singh, said, “The FSL team has collected crucial evidence from the crime spot. Police are investigating every aspect of the case thoroughly.”
Assuring justice to the victim’s family, he added that efforts would be made to secure the harshest punishment for the accused through a speedy trial.
