Youth found dead outside house in Darbhanga

Patna: One Sajan Kumar Mahato (20) was found dead outside his house in Darbhanga district’s Maulaganj area on Sunday.

His family members suspected that there was foul play in Sajan’s death, as his body bore severe injury marks. They said he went to sleep in a nearby cattle shed on Saturday night. However, on Sunday morning his mother found his body lying outside the house in a pool of blood.

The family alleged that Sajan was brutally attacked with sharp objects and a heavy substance. The police are investigating the case from both murder and accident angles.

Sadar SDPO Rajeev Kumar said, “Prima facie, the case is suspicious. It is possible the youth fell somewhere, but family members are alleging murder, so investigation is being done from that angle too. The deceased’s cellphone has been found, which is being examined by technical experts for any clue. The real cause of death will be clear only after the postmortem report comes.”

The SDPO further said there was a severe injury mark on the body. The FSL team collected evidence from the scene and started an investigation. “Sajan’s family said that they had no dispute with anyone, though about one year ago there was an altercation with a neighbour, Himanshu Mahto, over a road. Further investigation is being carried out,” the SDPO added.
