Youth dies after eating stale food of restaurant in Kaimur
Sasaram: A 20-year-old youth died and two others fell ill after allegedly consuming contaminated food from a restaurant in Bhabua town of Kaimur district on Wednesday.
The deceased, Vishal Kumar Tiwari, was a resident of Sarangpur under Bhabua police station area. He was the son of bus agent Markandeya Tiwari. His 17-year-old brother, Vinayak Tiwari, and his friend, Deoraj Kumar Singh, a resident of ward no. 11 in Bhabua, are currently undergoing treatment at the sadar hospital.
Senior police and administrative officials, including SDO Amit Kumar, in charge SDPO Aniket Amar, BDO Satish Kumar Singh, and SHO Mukesh Kumar, rushed to the hospital after receiving information about the incident.
The deceased’s father has lodged an FIR with the Sadar police station, alleging that his son’s death was caused by both medical negligence and consumption of contaminated food from the restaurant. Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case and sealed the restaurant located on Collectorate Road.
A forensic team has collected food samples from both the victim’s residence and the restaurant. The samples have been sent to a laboratory for examination. The SDO has also directed the food inspector to collect samples and ensure their testing to ascertain the presence of any toxic substance.
Given the gravity of the situation, deputy superintendent of sadar hospital, Dr Vinod Kumar Singh, constituted a three-member medical board comprising Dr Shahil Raj, Dr Shitesh Kumar and Dr Santosh Kumar Singh, which conducted the postmortem and preserved viscera samples of the deceased to facilitate further forensic analysis. The samples will be sent to a Forensic Science Laboratory or a chemical examiner to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the forensic and medical reports.
