Youth assaulted on child theft suspicion

Patna: A youth was allegedly beaten by villagers on suspicion of child theft in Abdullah Chak village under Gopalpur police station area on Monday. Police reached the spot, rescued him from the mob and admitted him to a nearby hospital. The youth claimed to be a resident of Nepal, but he did not explain his presence in the area. Sub-inspector Uttam Kumar said no formal complaint was lodged either for suspected child theft or the assault.
