World Population Day observed
Sukh Sansar, an NGO, observed World Population Day by organizing an awareness camp in Kadamkuan locality on the theme `Seven Billion People Counting Each Other'. The speakers said that in spite of late marriage being in practice in many countries, about 82 million girls get married before attaining the marriageable age of 18. Pregnancy has emerged as the main reason of death for young girls under the age bracket of 15-19 worldwide.
Worldwide reproductive and family unit planning programmes and contraceptives and sex education for young people are the best guidance to amorality and promiscuity, said NGO director Sanjay Kumar Singh.
Rotary donates:
Rotary Patna Mid Town president K K Agrawal distributed reading and writing materials, school uniforms, biscuits and toffees etc. among the students of a school being run by the club. It also held medical health check-up camp for polio and physically challenged patients.
BJP mourns passengers:
State BJP chief Dr C P Thakur has expressed his profound shock and grief over the death of 69 passengers in Kalka railway mishap. He said that the Manmohan Singh government has left the railways to the mercy of God. Dr Thakur said that the UPA government has neglected safety and security of the passengers.

Former MLA Bharat Prasad Singh has demanded immediate removal of governor Devanand Konwar from his post alleging his continuance in Bihar was maligning the image of both Raj Bhawan and the Congress Party.
Workshop on Bhikhari Thakur:
The two-day introductory workshop on Bhikhari Thakur concluded on the occasion of the 40th death anniversary of the noted folk theatre artist known for his `bideshiya' theatre. Some of those artists who had performed in Thakur's dramas during his time also attended the workshop.
