: Once it was confined to the metropolis but working from home and earning a handsome amount is now the latest trend among educated youth and housewives in cities like Patna
. These educated couples not only share more time together but also make a happy living by doing works online and earning from the confines of their households. Nisha Singh, 30, who left her job after having her first child shares, "Though I had to take care of my newborn, I was having seven to eight free hours daily.
It started frustrating me sitting idle. Then I took a job of an online lecturer for an US education portal. Now, I am paid Rs500 for each lecture I deliver online."
Similar is the case with Shruti Sharma, who was working full time in Mumbai for an online news portal before getting married and shifting to Patna. "I did not want to leave my job, but had to move. So, my office offered me the 'work from home' option," said Shruti, a technology correspondent, adding, "Everyday I log in at 10am and work for eight hours just like a full time employee. I also coordinate with my team online, or over the phone and have videoconferencing every week. I couldn't have asked for a better balanced life."
Swastik Agarwal, a marketing student who has also been working as online marketing executive for a search engine optimization (SEO) for the last two years, says, "This not only helps me earn my pocket money but also hone my skills, giving me practical exposure to the professional work atmosphere."
Making it easier for the aspirants of online home jobs, there are plenty of opportunities which can be availed and these help with plenty of advantages, too. It has become easier for people to work online and add to the family income.
Gaurav Vikrant Rai, a bachelor in design from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Patna, works as a fashion designer in a reputed firm on weekdays. But on weekends, he does online freelancing for other designing companies. "Going for an alternative job helps me earn some extra bucks," he said, adding, "Working online gives added advantage of working for more than one firm and, in turn, having extra income."
Mudit Jha, who works for a job consultant company in the city, says his employees who work from home are more productive than those who come to office. "The reason is simple. Working from home not only improves personal life and reduces the cost of daily conveyance to office but also let the person work in an environment free from stress and office politics and help them meet the targets on time," he reasons.
For Ashwini Kumar, a freelance graphic designer working at a reputed company in Bangalore, working online from home is much satisfying an experience. "While working online, I can attend puja at my home, go for my kids' PT meeting, celebrate their birthday, take care of my old parents and help my wife when the maid is on leave. What else I want?"
