Woman strangulated to death in Patna City

Patna: A 30-year-old woman, mother of three, was allegedly strangulated to death by her in-laws at Malsalami in Patna City on Friday. The victim has been identified as Neelu Singh, wife of one Pappu Singh. Victim’s brother Jaiguru told police that he got a phone call from his niece on Friday who told him that her mother’s life was in danger and they should come to her rescue. “On reaching her house at Malsalami, we found her dead. She was lying on the floor. Her body had external injury marks. She was probably strangulated to death,” Jaiguru said.

Neelu’s in-laws, including her husband, have been absconding. Jaiguru further told the police that Neelu’s father-in-law Vijay Singh, and two brothers-in-law – Chandan and Ajay – used to sexually exploit her. “She had complained to us earlier, but we could not help her at the right time,” he said.

Angry family members of the victim carried her body to the SSP office her and staged a protest. Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said, “Instead of approaching the Malsalami police station, they brought the body to my office. We later sent them to Gandhi Maidan police station to lodge the FIR. The body has been sent for post-mortem.”
