Woman shot, son injured in Purnia

Patna: Miscreants shot a woman dead and injured her son at Deori village under Barhara Kothi police station area in Purnia district on Saturday night. The mother died on the spot, while seriously injured son was referred to Bhagalpur for treatment, where his condition was stated to be critical. The deceased was identified as Lalita Devi, wife of Bijo Yadav, while her son as Vikas Kumar.
According to a police, the miscreants entered Lalita Devi's house in the night and started firing at her family. Lalita Devi sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot, while Vikas got seriously injured. He was immediately admitted to the hospital, from where the doctors referred him to a hospital in Bhagalpur for better treatment.
On being informed, a police team reached the spot and started investigating the matter. “Vikas is an accused of abducting the mother of three children. Lalita Devi's middle son, Manjesh works as a labourer in Punjab. Recently, when Manjesh was going back to Punjab, Pooja, the mother of three children from the same village, followed Manjesh to Punjab. Pooja's family alleges that Manjesh has taken Pooja with him by alluring her. This could be the reason behind the incident,” a police official said.
