Bettiah: A woman allegedly strangled her husband with the help of her paramour at Matiyariya village under Lauria police station area in West Champaran on Sunday night. Police have arrested both accused and launched an investigation.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Amit Kumar Namodas (35), a resident of Matiyaria Bengali colony under Gobraura panchayat. The victim’s wife,
Neelam Devi, and her alleged lover Amar Kumar alias Kiran have been taken into custody. Lauria SHO Ramesh Kumar Sharma said a police team rushed to the spot after receiving information and called in a forensic team. The body was later sent for post-mortem and subsequently handed over to the family.
During interrogation, the accused woman allegedly confessed to the crime, stating that she had mixed sleeping pills in her husband’s food. After he fell asleep, she and her accomplice strangled him to death.
The deceased’s brother, Shriram Majumdar, claimed that the couple frequently quarrelled and that incidents of domestic violence were reported earlier. He said the woman’s parental family had intervened about four months ago and facilitated a compromise, asking the couple to live together.
Amit had been married for around nine years and is survived by a seven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.
