Patna: One Malti Devi (50) was electrocuted at Imnauli village under Mairwa police station area in Siwan district on Saturday morning. Malti, wife of Rangeela Mallah, was sleeping inside her hut when the incident occurred. According to the family members, the room had an electrical panel connected to a fan. “Continuous heavy rainfall on Friday weakened the hut, causing it to collapse suddenly. Malti was electrocuted when she came in contact with a live wire protruding from the electrical panel,” SHO Sanjeet Kumar said. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the villagers and family members found the collapsed hut. After clearing the debris, they found Malti’s body and rushed her to a local health centre, where doctors declared her dead. The SHO said the body was sent to Siwan Sadar Hospital for the postmortem. The tragedy sparked outrage from the local people, who demanded financial assistance from the district administration. The police pacified the angry villagers.
