Bhagalpur: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, Bhagalpur police arrested a woman peddler from her residence at Pasi Tola under Lalmatia police station area on Thursday.
Police recovered around 10.5 grams of brown sugar, a prohibited narcotic substance, from the house. The accused has been identified as Amrita Kumari, in her 30s, wife of Raja Chowdhary, a resident of Pasi Tola. She is alleged to be a member of an organised drug peddling gang operating in the area.
SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav said police received specific inputs on Wednesday evening about the involvement of a woman in drug trafficking in city areas. Acting on the information, a raid was conducted, leading to her arrest and seizure of the contraband.
“A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network,” he added.
