Woman, daughter found dead in Nalanda district
Biharsharif: Two death incidents within 24 hours have triggered panic in Nalanda district.
In the first case, a double murder was reported from Jethouna village under Khudaganj police station area on Tuesday night. A 32-year-old woman, Sanisha Devi, and her 14-year-old daughter, Sneha Kumari, were found dead inside their home.
The deceased woman’s sister, Soni Kumari, said the family was initially informed that the victims were lying unconscious. However, when her relatives arrived from Bela village in Gaya, they found both Sanisha and Sneha dead. Soni alleged that there was a strangulation mark around her sister’s neck, while her niece had multiple injury marks around the neck.
Police suspect the crime was committed by the woman’s husband, Sanjay Kumar, who has been taken into custody. Officials said the accused is mentally unstable and was undergoing treatment.
Preliminary findings suggest Sneha was strangled, while Sanisha died after her neck was allegedly twisted. Both died on the spot. The accused lived with them, and the incident has shocked the local community.
Hilsa DSP-II Rishiraj said the spot has been secured and a forensic team has been called in to assist in the ongoing investigation. The bodies have been sent to Biharsharif sadar hospital for postmortem. The accused has been shifted to Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (BMIMS), Pawapuri, for treatment and further questioning.
In a separate incident on Wednesday morning, a partially burnt unidentified body was recovered outside a shop in the market committee locality under Laheri police station area, triggering panic among locals and traders.
Police suspect the victim was murdered elsewhere and the body dumped at the site after being set on fire to destroy evidence. Biharsharif sadar SDPO Nurul Haque said the body was found near Devisarai Chowk.
The body was sent to a govt hospital for postmortem. Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
