Woman among 6 killed in Rohtas 2 road accidents
Sasaram: At least six people, including a woman, died in two separate road accidents in Rohtas district on Wednesday. Two people lost their lives at Itamha Bazaar under the Nasariganj police station area when an SUV ran over them, while in another incident four youths were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles near Gohi village under Darihat police station area in the district.
In the first incident, the accident occurred near the PNB Bank when a speeding SUV ran over a woman and a cyclist passing along the road in Itamha Bazaar. The deceased were identified as Asha Devi (42), wife of Virendra Chaudhary, a resident of Baradih village, and Santosh Kumar Singh (50), son of late Awadh Kumar Singh, a resident of Kandh Bahuara village.
Police said Asha was on her way to a bank, while Santosh Kumar Singh was returning to his village on a bicycle, when the SUV, coming from the market side, lost control and hit both, resulting in their death on the spot. However, the driver abandoned the vehicle, and fled the spot. A manhunt has been launched, they said.
In another road accident near Gohi village under Darihat police station area, four youths died in the collision between two bikes. It was so severe that both motorcycles caught fire immediately after the impact. And the motorcyclists sustained severe burn injury also.
On receiving information, senior police officials rushed to the spot along with local police, while hundreds of villagers gathered at the accident site. All four victims were taken to Akorhi Gola Block Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. The deceased were identified as Vikas Tiwari and Sanjay Tiwari, residents of Prayag Bigha in Pani Dalmianagar; Anmol Sharma, a resident of Mangitpur village under Nasariganj police station area; and another youth from Hemradih village.
According to police, the youths were returning to Dehri-on-Sone after attending a birthday party at a friend’s house in Dhananw village under the Nasariganj police station area, when their motorcycle collided with another bike coming from the opposite direction.
The police records revealed that over 350 people have lost their lives in different road accident so far this year in Rohtas district.
