Bettiah: A court in Bagaha in West Champaran on Saturday sentenced four people, including a woman, to life imprisonment in a murder case. The woman, Madhu Devi, along with her lover and others, was found guilty of murdering her husband. A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on all the four. If the fine is not paid, each will face an additional six months’ imprisonment.
The case is of Bishunpurwa village under Bathwariya police station area. The deceased was identified as Lorik Yadav.
The court of district and additional sessions Judge Manvendra Mishra, after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence, found all the four accused guilty.
Additional public prosecutor Jitendra Bharti said Lorik’s dismembered remains were found on June 23, 2022.
The investigation revealed that Madhu conspired with her lover, Krishna, to murder Lorik. Two of Krishna’s friends—Chhota Yadav and Ranjit Ram—were also involved in the crime.
After the murder, an attempt was made to dispose of the body, which was then dismembered. Later, the police recovered the deceased’s skeletal remains, including the head, hands, and feet, from different locations.
The verdict was delivered based on the police investigation report and detailed court arguments. Madhu and other accused in the murder case are in judicial custody since July 8, 2022, Jitendra added.
